Hosur Industrial Area comprises 1,500 large, medium, and small industries, with a workforce of about 2.5 lakh. A wide range of engineering components and products is manufactured in Hosur industries. Hosur isn't a single town but a central industrial hub with several parks totalling thousands of acres, with recent developments adding hundreds of acres, such as SIPCOT expansions and private industrial parks, making it a massive manufacturing corridor spanning vast areas across various established and new zones.
With the advent of industrialisation in Hosur, the need for a common forum for industries was felt to support the activities initiated by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The Hosur Industries Association (HIA) was formed in February 1981. Since then, HIA has grown and expanded into a multifaceted organisation and stands today as the apex body of industries in Hosur and counts within its ranks companies engaged in diverse products ranging from Automobiles to Jewellery, FMCG, Pharma and textiles, Hospitals, Engineering Colleges, Hotels, Service Sectors etc.
HIA has been privileged to be guided by eminent leaders such as Mr. A.M.M. Arunachalam of Carborundum Universal, Mr. D. Jayavardhanavelu of LMW, and Mr. Venu Srinivasan of TVS MOTOR Company. Their visionary leadership transformed a small village into a prosperous urban centre. The manufacturing industry has played a pivotal role in this development, generating a multiplier effect by attracting numerous ancillary and allied service industries.
